Moulder of Dreams Inc. in Port Hope Simpson is en route to becoming a self sustaining business- while creating unique Labrador Pottery. What began as a for of therapy for its clients, the majority of whom are inflicted with Mytonic Dystrophy, has been transformed into a sustainable craft-producing company, which offers a modest, yet expanding, product line: Inukshuks, mugs, bowls and tea light candle holders. The transformation began with the project's closure in 2003 due to a loss of gorernment funding and lack of long-term finical plan for the operation. Upon re-opening in November 2007, Moulder of Dreams Inc. had a renewed vision - to become a sustainable business enterprise that can offer an income supplement to its clients. The combination of proposal development, business planning and marketing assistance from S.I.F.E Memorial has made a real difference. Since they began throwing clay again, Moulder of Dreams has grown to eight employees, including fife with Mytonic Dystrophy or challening needs. There is a two- year plan in place to reach sustainability and their products are available in more than 15 outlets throughout Newfoundland and Labrador. The pottery offers the customer "a little piece of Labrador," with their unique craftmanship and traditional colours. "It's not somehting that you would buy every day- it's a special gift for your family," said a chairperson Betty Sampson. "It's not your everyday Wal- Mart store."
